Summary
The Orioles and Marlins were ready to do battle on yet another cold and damp evening at the ballpark after the
CHYAA ground crew removed the tarp and preped the field. Hats off to all that helped.  When will the
temperatures ever get above 60?
The O’s opened up the scoring in the first scoring 2 off the bats of Greg Nazarian and Ryan Alvite. The Marlins
answered back in the home half of the first scoring 1 with hits by Jack Brandt and Matt Muench..The score
remained 2-1 until the Orioles added a little breathing room in the third adding a 3 spot. The key hit was a laser
shot RBI single off the wall by Nick Trivigino putting the Orioles in the lead 5-1. The O’s added 2 more in the 5th
off the bat of Ben Varones single. The Marlins would not go away however staging a last inning rally scoring 2
led once again by Brandts lead-off single. Vince Cahill worked an impressive 2 innings on the mound  for the
Marlins.

Summary
It was Friday the 13th and who knew what was going to happen on this chilly and very windy night.  Jeff Dixon
was kind enough to umpire behind the plate while Rob Varone and Dale Young took the bases.

The Astros jumped right up with 2 runs in the top of the first after 3 consecutive hits by Chad Grimley, Brad
Machinski, and Andrew Ohanian.  The Cards could not answer back.  The Astros then put up 6 more runs in
the 2nd on 5 hits which included several highlights for the Astros.  Joe Argentina led off the inning with his 1st
Major League base hit.  Then Will Leite got his 2nd Majors hit which ended up being a 3 run Homerun off of the
scoreboard.  The game was then quiet until the bottom of the 3rd when Sean Harris punched his first Homerun
into the left field shrubs.
That HR would end up being the only hit the Cards would have all day.
Sean Harris then took the mound for the Cards and shut the Astros down in the 4th and 5th until Jay Schaetzle
led off the 6th with his first Homerun…an opposite field shot into the big silver monster in right field. With 2 outs
in the top of the 6th Chris Nevin sent a booming shot to the warning track in deep center field that was caught
at the fence to end the Astros 4 run 6th inning.  Andrew Ohanian then came in to close out the game in the 6th
by walking one and striking out 3.

Player of the Game for the Cards was Sean Harris with his first HR, 1 run scored and 3 innings of pitching
giving up just 4 runs, 3hits, 1 K, and 3 walks.  Brad Machinski was Player of the Game for the Astros.  He was 3
for 3 with 3 runs scored.  On the mound he pitched 5 innings of 1 hit baseball, while walking only 1 and striking
out 3.  He also added 5 putouts from that position.

Congratulations to Sean, Will, Joe, Jay, and Brad on your accomplishments during the game.

Summary
Joe Bendig got the Sox off to a strong start with his first home run of the season, a three-run blast in the first.
Great all-around defense behind a strong 6-inning pitching performance by Matt Howe (and great work behind
the plate by John Nugent) sealed the 4-1 victory.

A gutty performance on the mound by the Marlins’ starter Jack Brandt and Vince Cahill in relief.

Both teams would like to thank all the guys who worked hard to get the field playable for the game!!!!
